winter working

After a summer of mostly working on smaller pieces I've started winter with bigger, looser sketches. A couple of them have already turned into new rug designs for next season which is great. Working on a larger scale with ink always seems to free up my drawing. I like the direct approach and bold quality of line it produces.

I turned round from my work earlier to see the sky reflecting my latest framed pieces on the window ledge. Hopefully I'll get a day with good light soon so I can take proper photographs of them.

last rays of the day

It has been so long since I last wrote a post that I don't even know where to start. I have been working hard on resolving a group of pieces which have been driving me nuts over the last couple of months. They're more or less finished now, but I'll hold off revealing them or disclosing any opinions until they're mounted/framed.

I have also been out and about collecting new research for paintings and rug designs since the weather has been unseasonably mild recently. The following photographs were taken yesterday afternoon at the Sand o' Wright.
