reflected pattern

15.7cm square. Watercolour on 300gm watercolour paper.

Watercolour is a medium I very rarely work in, but I thought it would lend itself nicely to a reflected pattern study.

My first still life drawing in years. Turns out I've forgotten how to draw ellipses. They're trickier than I remember...

14 x 19.5cm. Acrylic, chalk and pencil on paper.*SOLD*

Finally getting around to editing images and updating the blog. I've tweaked the blog layout slightly for a cleaner style (as far as my technical skills allow) and I might create a new "artist statement" page as the old one looked outdated. Part of me wonders whether anybody really reads them, other than poor art students who are forced to write them.

Hoping to have some postcards and/or greetings cards of my work for sale this year. Watch this space!

colour, line, pattern

For a change I fancied doing some still life studies this month.

I had forgotten how mentally draining this type of analytical work can be as it requires so much concentration, but it has been thoroughly enjoyable. It's fun getting to indulge in a different aspect of my personality.

I'm also delighted that the dresser I renovated during the summer finally has a purpose and I get to drag out all the funky second hand crockery I've been collecting for years.

It certainly beats sketching outside at this time of year!

rearranging

Just a few quick photos of pieces I rearranged. I think these clustered groupings are more interesting than what I had up previously.

I also reframed my homescar series and think they look so much better framed individually.
