One of my favourite places to walk and take photographs is Yesnaby, whether it's bright and summery or wild and bleak it's always a thrilling place to visit.

being a tourist

On Monday I drove over to the west mainland to enjoy the beautiful weather we've been having this week. I'm so rarely over in that direction that I decided to be a tourist and visit the Ring of Brodgar. It was surprisingly quiet there considering the weather and time of year, perfect for taking photographs.

on my wall and floor

My "boring wall" is starting to look less boring now that I have some drawings, monoprints and maps pinned up.

I have also been busy building up paint layers for new pieces of work and prepping bits of card to take out sketching. Why is it that despite having two tables in my studio I nearly always end up painting on the floor?

And why do paint palettes always look more interesting than the actual paintings?
