colour, line, pattern

For a change I fancied doing some still life studies this month.

I had forgotten how mentally draining this type of analytical work can be as it requires so much concentration, but it has been thoroughly enjoyable. It's fun getting to indulge in a different aspect of my personality.

I'm also delighted that the dresser I renovated during the summer finally has a purpose and I get to drag out all the funky second hand crockery I've been collecting for years.

It certainly beats sketching outside at this time of year!

rearranging

Just a few quick photos of pieces I rearranged. I think these clustered groupings are more interesting than what I had up previously.

I also reframed my homescar series and think they look so much better framed individually.

mangled memories

What started out as a bit of fun actually turned into something quite interesting. I was going through all my old research photographs from uni, cutting out colours and textures for ideas when I got a little clip and stick happy. I can't believe it never crossed my mind to do this before.

Bob is exhausted from all the clipping and sticking.

cathedral ideas

Ideas for a new range of St Magnus Cathedral inspired rugs.

We have more or less finalised six designs and the first one is up on the loom today. Looking forward to seeing how they all turn out.

patchwork rug

patchwork rug, 63 x 102cm

Mum and I thought we'd create a colourful rug to use up our odds and ends of wool.

evening sky

A beautiful sky from two weeks ago which I entirely forgot to blog about. I thought the clouds above the barley field in particular were fantastic.

on my table

This is what my art table looks like at the moment. Creative chaos or just chaos? Considering I have been smashing things I'm inclined to go with the latter.
