pale horizon

oil monotype on paper

Another classic example of my lack of organisation (see previous post) as I can't remember the size of this piece and it doesn't appear to be written down anywhere! I don't think it was more than 30cm in height though, so quite small.

a sense of balance

oil monotype and chalk pastel on ingres paper

Finally starting to work my way through photographs and upload them here, such as this monotype I produced at the end of May. There appears to be a few pieces which I've sold this summer and forgotten to document properly, or in some cases document at all! One day I *will* be organised...

a day out

Mum and I made the most of the good weather we had on Monday and headed out to the west mainland for a change of scenery. Who needs to go abroad when you can drive to Birsay!

I still have a pile of photographs of finished pieces I need to wade through and edit. Hopefully I'll get some of them uploaded here in the next couple of weeks.

in progress

After four years of working on relatively small pieces I have finally returned to working on a larger scale. I'm happy with the ideas I have planned for this 112cm (44 inch) square canvas but have been experimenting with mark making and layering on smaller studies to help me decide how to treat the surface of the canvas. I should be ready to start working on it in the next couple of days.

Naturally a cup of tea on standby is vital to the creative process.
