easing into the flow

I thought it was about time I updated the blog since a month has passed since my last post. Progress on my latest tapestry has been fairly steady as I've been working on it most days.

The lower half of the composition is the most complicated in terms of weaving so at least I know it should get easier the more it grows. I'm 1ft up now so starting to get a good feel for the piece and all the colours. Onwards and upwards.

  1. It's great to see it grow, and at such a speed with all those details in colour blends and different textures. Good to see the close ups Jo,I can see more here than on IG👌How are you keeping in this long year of lockdowns? It wont be easy...I hope your steady flow in your tapestries helps you to stay well and focused. I just finished my little seascape , a "mini tapestry compared to your current one😉 I very much enjoyed the calming colours to weave with. The sea a source of rest for the soul and endless inspiration. Take care and happy weaving ( by now your box of bobbins will be well sorted😊), Betty from the South Australian coast🏖

    1. Hi Betty, the sea is a constant source of rest, balance and inspiration for me too. I don't like being away from it for too long. I'm forever grateful for living where I am, especially during a lockdown. I wouldn't like to be stuck away from the sea.

My work has certainly kept me occupied over the past year, both physically and mentally. It has been good to have something positive to focus on during this time of uncertainty and to have so much time and peace to work. I haven't had that luxury since my uni days, so I'm making the most of it.

Progress has been a bit slow on the tapestry over the last couple of weeks, but at least my bobbin trays are looking a bit more organised! :D Hope you're also keeping well. I see from the news that Australia has things much more under control than the UK and Europe. Take care and happy weaving!

  3. Thanks for your reply Jo😊I'm glad you are doing well on the beautiful Orkney Islands. We visited Kirkwall and the Island of Hoy where we stayed at a farm called "Stoneyquoy" back in the 1970's😉 long time ago, happy memories. The owners were called Arthur and Louise and had three children, that's all I can remember.....We walked on Westray, all beautiful. Have a lovely Easter with your family, some rest before tapping those tidied up bobbins again🤗
